#BodyPositivity: healthy body and healthy mind

There are those who want to be leaner, some more toned, those who want to gain mass and some who want to increase stamina and so on. The truth is that nobody fully accepts their body and appearance, or at least, there are very few people who accept themselves as they are.

Bud Power - Body Positivity

The most common parameter for evaluating "health" is the Body Mass Index (BMI). The formula consists of dividing the weight of an adult subject expressed in kilograms (kg), by the square of his height expressed in meters (m). Ranked by BMI, the population is generally divided into weight classes: underweight, normal weight, overweight, obesity.

This is why many of us step on the scales every day to keep track of their weight. But the real question is "how often should we weigh ourselves?". It depends on the goal, but usually to get concrete results it would be good to weigh yourself at the same time each day. Of course, if you want to have more information, it is important to undergo blood tests and check your blood pressure.

There are 5 key habits for a healthy lifestyle:

- Nutrition: a healthy diet includes everything in the right quantities.

- Physical activity: 30 minutes of physical exercise a day is an excellent habit.

- BMI: the index for adults should be between 18 and 24.

- Smoking: should be eliminated.

- Alcohol: it is recommended not to exceed 15g of alcohol per day for women and 30g for men.

Unfortunately, our brains are subjected to thousands of stimuli every day that bring us to think that we should all be tall, handsome and thin. When we fail to conform to cultural beauty standards our self-esteem can be affected. Falling into depression is much easier than you can think of.

The founding principle of body positivity is to love and accept your body as it is. Cellulite, stretch marks and love handles included. All bodies are beautiful precisely because they are different from each other. This movement aims to deconstruct an image of the body and unrealistic and discriminatory beauty standards. As in many situations in life, surely, the truth is somewhere in between.

It is one thing clear: we are not the number that appears when we step on the scale. Taking care of yourself is the cardinal principle that we should put at the base of our life. Health and appearance are not the same, but of course they are both important.

Feeling fit helps the mood, makes us feel more confident about ourselves and allows us to interact better with other people. The important thing is not to get demoralized and not to allow one period to affect the rest of our life. We learn from the first day we are born and we never stop, even if the most difficult lesson of all is always the same: to love yourself for who you are. If we still haven't succeeded, let's not despair, because as you know "tomorrow is another day".
